ResMed Limited is a leading respiratory medical device manufacturer, specialising in products for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disordered breathing. ResMed was formed in 1989, with the aim to commercialise a device for treating obstructive sleep apnea, the first non-invasive treatment using nasal continuous positive airway pressure, developed by Professor Colin Sullivan from Sydney University. ResMed has since gained greater public and physician awareness, and operations have grown dramatically through the introduction of a number of highly innovative product lines.

ResMed operates through offices in the United States, Europe, Asia and Oceania, and through a network of distributors in more than 60 other countries. ResMed's principal manufacturing plant is located in Sydney, Australia, where assembly and testing of the products is carried out. ResMed has grown at over 25% per annum since its public listing in June 1995, and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in September 1999. ResMed spends approximately 7-8% of its revenue on research and product development, which keeps them at the forefront of understanding and treating the morbidity and mortality associated with sleep disordered breathing.
